Squirt: how it works

сквирт

“I was very scared,” my friend told me about her first squirt. “And yet,” she added in a whisper, “thought she described herself.”

When I sat down to study the topic, I asked the subscribers to tell me how this happens with them – and I was amazed how many people wrote to me! Familiar, unfamiliar, close friends, ex-girls. Squirt turned out to be much more common than I thought. How is it arranged and why is there so much controversy around it? We understand together with scientists and experts, as well as women and non-binary people who agreed to talk about their experience.

Unexplored squirt

Сквирт: как он работает

Despite the fact that the writings of squirt are in the writings of Aristotle, the ancient Chinese and the Kama Sutra, there is still very little scientific information about it, and some scientists even doubt its existence. “Squirt research now mostly revolves around the question of how real it is. The Guardian’s excellent title speaks for itself:“ The question is not whether female ejaculation exists. The question is why we do not believe the women who report it?“- describes the situation with the studies of the SexEducation squirt, expert Maria Davoyan.

Dasha: At the age of fourteen, I learned to masturbate with my fingers – and was terribly surprised by the huge puddle that remained on the bedding after orgasm. I was sure that I did not write, and the puddle did not smell of urine: according to my recollections, it was just a warm, odorless water. I had already read about squirt in fan fiction, but I would never have thought that it would be so wet!

It is not surprising that many women who first encountered their own squirt do not understand what happened to them, they may feel awkward in front of their partner or partner, and even consider squirt to be a sign of illness.

Squirt and female ejaculation are called “squirt” in colloquial speech, although some researchers believe that these phenomena should be distinguished. Squirt or squirt is the release of a noticeable amount of clear or slightly colored fluid from the female urethra that occurs during sex. And female ejaculation is a splash of a small amount of thick whitish fluid from Skin’s glands (“female prostate”). True, since the ducts of the glands of Skin also flow into the urethra, 2 types of secretions can easily mix.

How does female ejaculation work?

For the “female ejaculation” described by Anna below, the Skin glands located around the urethra, which are considered an analogue of the male prostate gland and are often called simply the “female prostate,” are responsible. In general, it is interesting that a significant part of the terms describing the phenomenon refers to male anatomy: a whitish, thick fluid released from the “female prostate” is called the “female ejaculant.”

Anna: During an orgasm, about 2 tablespoons of a viscous liquid with a whitish hue flow from me. It just smells like my vagina, brackish.

Olga: Sometimes my squirt is connected with orgasm, sometimes not. In any case, after him I feel lightness and pleasant emptiness.

After analyzing the composition of the “female ejaculant”, scientists found out a lot of interesting things.

  1. Firstly, that this is definitely not urine (this fact has long been called into question by science, so the discovery is important).
  2. Secondly, the “female ejaculant” contains protein components similar to those found in male seminal fluid: in particular, they found creatinine and PSA, a protein produced by the male prostate.

Sex expert Logan Legkof notes that the female ejaculant looks very similar to sperm in general – but, of course, no sperm. The volume of fluid, according to one study, can be up to 15 milliliters – that’s about 3 teaspoons.

How does squirt work?

Струйный оргазм

Imagine that during an orgasm you pour out more than 3 teaspoons of liquid? Women interviewed by Amy Gilliand from the University of Wisconsin reported that during an orgasm they spilled fluids enough to “wet the bed” or “irrigate the wall”, or to let their new partner “cry out in fright or surprise.”

The phenomenon of abundant squirt is devoted to one of the few experiments with squirt, organized in the laboratory. Seven women who reported their ability to squirt underwent ultrasound and had sex. An ultrasound scan before sex confirmed that every woman’s bladder was empty. The second series of ultrasounds was done before the orgasm approached – and showed that the bladders of women were full. At the third ultrasound, performed after an orgasm with a squirt, the bladder of each was again empty. Researchers collected the fluid released during the squirt to analyze the composition. What is the result? Squirt fluid contained urine, creatinine, and 5 participants – the already mentioned PSA. Moreover, in the usual urine samples of these women, there was no PSA – apparently, he got there directly with a squirt.

Olesya: Sometimes there can be a lot of fluids straight: once a partner and I were even scared and got to google, what volumes are generally acceptable for a squirt. The liquid itself is rather colorless, the smell can change.

Researchers conclude that the spilled liquid was associated with the bladder – but did not report its qualities. Nevertheless, this is an important point: most ejaculating and squirt women say that copious discharge does not look and does not smell like urine: they can be completely transparent and have no aroma.

Unfortunately, 6 out of 30 women surveyed by Gilliand never heard of female ejaculation before participating in the study, considered themselves “abnormal,” or thought they had urinary incontinence. Of course, it is important to rule out incontinence and, if in doubt, check with your doctor. But, as a rule, it makes itself felt not only during sex – in contrast to a splash of fluid during squirt. There are frequent cases when women who did not know anything about squirt and faced with it, began to suppress their orgasm, as well as seek surgical intervention, undergo operations to “recover”.

Can everyone squirt?

According to research, at least once in a lifetime, 10 to 54% of women experienced a squirt. The spread is rather big, and this is not surprising: many studies were done using the survey method, and often with a very small number of participants. In any case, to say that “no squirt exists” is becoming more difficult, and the phenomenon itself may turn out to be much more common than scientists thought. “It’s silly that we waited so long before we started exploring female anatomy,” said Emmanuel Gianini, a researcher at Point G and the glands of Skin from the Italian University of L’Aquila. Researchers attribute female ejaculation to stimulation of the area on the front wall of the vagina near the urethra. Previously, the so-called G-spot was determined there, but today this zone is considered in the context of the entire clitorourethrovaginal complex.

Olesya: I don’t even feel like a liquid “shoots” out of me, so I don’t notice any difference in sensations.

Faith: If a squirt occurs before an orgasm or during an orgasm, the orgasm for me intensifies, lasts longer and generally feels somehow “more powerful”.

According to a survey of 320 women capable of squirt, 78.8% of them believe that this feature enriches their sex life, and 90% of partners and partners of the respondents find the squirt attractive.

Are all women capable of squirt? Although some sex coaches claim that yes, for science this is still an open question. Specifically, not everyone can have female ejaculation: Skin glands are developed differently in everyone, and some may simply be absent. Scientists suggest that for such women, the possibility of meeting their own ejaculate is unlikely.

In any case, although squirt occurs during sexual stimulation, it is not always associated with orgasm. Moreover, the idea that with orgasm a squirt will certainly enhance sensations is only partially true. Some women talk about increased sensations, some more important are experiences from sex and orgasm – and they perceive squirt as a “side effect”.

Mira: To notify people about my features for the first time is a little alarming for me. I don’t always understand at what point it is appropriate to do this, and I’m also afraid that a person will be anxiously waiting for “that” moment – and he is not a fact of what will happen. This is completely normal for me, and not a sign of a feil, but, unfortunately, many of us are accustomed to considering orgasm to be the goal of sex or an important criterion for its success. In my opinion, this often spoils the ability to simply enjoy the process and calmly study each other.

Nevertheless, I have not yet encountered a negative reaction to squirt: partners and partners seem to like this, and they always very comfortably reassure me when I say that at times I can be embarrassed and ashamed.

Taking care of yourself

For women experiencing squirt, it is not so important to know the composition and mechanics of the secretions, how to build a comfortable relationship with their own characteristics and be sure that everything is in order with the body. You can warn a partner or partner about a squirt, and keep a couple of towels next to the bed or use an absorbent sheet, depending on the amount of discharge.

Marie: Squirt: how it works. Recently, my partner and I have used the other end of the mattress for sex so that the puddle does not stay in the middle. I’m also thinking of buying black sheets in IKEA, there are less traces of liquid on them.

Olga: Squirt: how it works Squirt occurs when I masturbate – so I just began to masturbate in the bathroom. This solves problems with privacy and sheets.

Anya: Squirt: how it works. Recently I began to use absorbent diapers during sex – and it turned out to be very convenient: finally I can not control myself.

Regardless of how the biological mechanism of female ejaculation is structured, physical sensations from it are primarily an expression of a woman’s sexual pleasure,” Lux Alptraum, a specialist in sex education, writes in The Guardian.

Sex-expert and psychologist Maria Davoyan summarizes:

“Since squirt is still poorly studied and lately has been subject to fetishization – information about it should be given very carefully. If not at the lessons of sex education, which in Russia, unfortunately, is not included in the compulsory program, then at least at biology classes it is important to say that physiology is an extremely individual thing. And although scientists have not yet come to a common opinion about the nature of squirt, the release of fluid in women during orgasm is not a rare phenomenon, and you should not be afraid or ashamed of it. ”
